Some Girl I Used to Know

Taking a podcasting format and using it creatively to bring to life a narrative, 'Some Girl I Used to Know' takes you on a nostalgic journey to a time when hopes were high and love was intoxicating. Both hilarious and touching this one-woman monologue features a mixtape of songs from the 80s and 90s, including Soft Cell and Culture Club. Beautifully played and co-written by Denise Van Outen.

The Brief

Bringing a new creative spin to podcasting, we took this narrative story, co-written by the actor who plays the central role, Denise Van Outen, and brought it to life during the lockdown. It was great to work on something that takes the content platform that podcasting offers and uses it in a new way.

Our Approach

The story follows Stephanie (Denise Van Outen) a successful, rich and beautiful Lingerie designer who has it all. But having it all isn’t always enough. Set in her luxurious hotel room with nothing but her phone, laptop, and minibar to keep her company. Oh and an out-of-the-blue message from an old flame, Sean. Her mind wrestles between her reality with steady, stay-at-home husband Paul to the excitement of ‘shagable’ ex-lover Sean. But which direction will she choose?

The Result

It was a real pleasure to work on this project which brought together the creative vision of the writers, the audio magic of podcasting and sponsorship from Tapp’d Cocktails to give it a new reach in terms of audience.
